The Ohio Meat Goat Association has
sponsored Junior ABGA (JABGA) shows since 2004. These shows are open to
any youth that are members of the Junior American Boer Goat Association
(JABGA) and their rules govern. Each year there has been an increase in
the number of JABGA members and the number of entries. Prizes and class
monies are awarded at each of the Ohio Meat Goat Association's JABGA
shows.
To reward junior youth for their hard work and dedication in showing
Boer goat breeding animals, a Premier Junior Exhibitor award was
implemented in 2006. To be eligible for this award a JABGA member must
also be a junior member of the Ohio Meat Goat Association.
Points for Junior OMGA members are based on class placings and champions
at each show. Points are awarded to the top six places in each class for
Percentage Does and Fullblood Does. Junior/Senior Champions and Reserve
Champions, and Grand/Reserve Grand Champions. Points are totaled (after
the last show) for all of the OMGA JABGA shows and prizes are awarded
during the last OMGA show of the season.
