The OMGA Wether Series shows are open to
any junior exhibitor from five years to eighteen years (as of January 1
of the current year). The Wether Series shows coincide with OMGA/ABGA
open shows. (Please see the
Events Page for show schedules.) A junior exhibitor must show
his/her own goat(s) unless exhibiting more than one goat in a single
class. If exhibiting more than one goat in a single class, then another
junior exhibitor may show that goat. This also includes championship
classes.
Each of the OMGA Wether Series shows have class payouts based on class
placing along with a Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Wether. The rules
for the shows are listed on their prospective showbills.
OMGA Junior members - The Ohio Meat Goat Association offers OMGA Junior
members a chance to compete for the OMGA Wether Series Premier Exhibitor
Award. A youth must become a Junior member of the Ohio Meat Goat
Association before the start of the first Wether Series show. Points are
given to OMGA junior members based on class placings. (Champions and
Reserves do not receive points.) Bonus points are also given for
attending multiple shows. An OMGA junior member can show multiple
wethers, but only the member’s highest placing wether at each show will
receive points.
The goal of the Wether Series is to award the top individual Junior OMGA
wether exhibitors throughout the course of one year based on the total
number of points accumulated during that year.
Prizes are awarded to the top five exhibitors at the last show that
scored the highest in the Series. The Junior OMGA Premier Exhibitor and
Reserve Premier Exhibitor will receive belt buckles. Prizes through
fifth are also awarded.
For more information about the OMGA Wether Series please contact an OMGA
