The OMGA
Wether Series is a series of jackpot shows for 4-H and FFA age
exhibitors. The Wether Series shows coincide with OMGA/ABGA open
shows. (Please see
Events Page
for show schedules.) Each show has payouts based on class placing,
and grand and reserve champion. Points are given to each exhibitor
based on their class placing. Bonus points are given for attending
multiple shows. The goal of the Wether Series is to award the
exhibitors that work with and show their animals to improve their
abilities as showmen. Prizes are awarded at the last show for the
exhibitors that scored the highest in the series. |
2004 was the first year that the OMGA held their Wether Series shows. In
the past, the OMGA has held a wether show at each of their open shows.
The 2004 Wether Series has been a success and plans are in the works for
the 2005 Wether Series.
For
the 2004 OMGA Wether Series the five highest scoring exhibitors were to
receive prizes. However, this
year there were two ties, in points, at the end of the series. The ties
were in second and fourth places. Thanks to good planning at the
beginning of the series, awards were able to be given to the top seven
high scoring exhibitors. All seven exhibitors received gift certificates
to Country Threads and Design. The top two point winners, top three this
year, also won belt buckles. Third place received a hay feeder from
Sydell.

Also this year, along with the Wether Series point system, was an award
for the junior Ohio Meat Goat Association member that earned the highest
points. Dave and Debi Howard of Country Threads and Designs donated a
beautiful embroidered jacket to a much deserving youth.
